URDA Third Annual Conference in Istanbul- Turkey

Comprehensive Humanitarian Vision: Relief – Development – Leadership
On Thursday, February the 5th, 2015, URDA held its third annual conference in Istanbul, Turkey, sponsored by Qatar Charity in an attempt to analyze the Syrian crisis and the consequences that emerged in Lebanon, the host country. The conference brought together important political and humanitarian figures mainly Deputy of the Turkish Parliament Cemal Yılmaz Demir, Internal Security Forces (ISF) Public Relations chief Lt. Col. Joseph Musallam, and other local, regional, and international figures of organizations and media institutions.
The third annual conference was titled “Comprehensive Humanitarian Vision: Relief – Development – Leadership” bringing about politicians, decision makers, civil society activists with subject matter expertise from local and international NGOs involved in the humanitarian field and mainly in the Syrian crisis and its impact on Lebanon, the host country.
The conference aimed at understanding the Syrian refugee situation in Lebanon from a comprehensive perspective and at analyzing the basic needs of refugees from shelter, relief, development, healthcare, education, psychosocial and legal support. This understanding will enable the involved parties to provide for the Syrian refugees basic needs and lead them towards development and independency which in return will lessen the tension that the hosting community suffers from.

Through its third annual conference, URDA sought to provide a leading example in humanitarian work; one that adheres to the international standards. The conference also displayed URDA’s achievements throughout the past years and its future endeavors in various humanitarian fields.
